Thank you all for your patience! I’m discovering that creating a book is similar to a home renovation project; it takes twice as long and is 50% more expensive than the original estimate!!
What slowed down our timeframe was the procurement of the photos because some of the athletes did not have many photos for purchase and six of the photos came in way too high ($500 per photo through Getty Photos!!).
We had to search for other options by writing to each athlete and their family members and waiting to hear back. My photo budget is $1500-$3000, so 6 photos would have blown that budget and we are using nearly two dozen photos. We are currently in the final stages of swapping in the high-resolution purchased photos.
That being said, we are finally in the home stretch! The final files are nearly complete and ready to go to print today!
Once files are uploaded and accepted for printing by KDP, we will do a final proof before placing the actual print order.
The print turnaround through KDP is 5 days. So if we get proof copies first, that’s 1 week.
If all goes according to plan, I can begin to mail out copies and rewards to donors within 3 weeks!!
p.s. The nearly-complete draft of Changing the Game and the cover are here:
I’ll be contacting everyone who donated through Kickstarter using the survey to collect email and mailing address information next week.
